eckhaus latta NYC Store

The New York Eckhaus Latta Store is designed as a blank slate. Following the installation of the ambitious and conceptually-charged temporary store at the Whitney, this space is a subtler and calmer experience. The acoustic tile is removed from the ceiling grid but the t-bar is left in place to provide a datum and expose rawness at the edges of the polished lower space. The emphasis is on texture and tone. The store’s location inside of a Chinatown mall without direct access from the street heightens the experience of interiority and exists comfortably with the concept of a multiplicity of worlds within one building.
