The bones of this 1950s Laurel Canyon home were beautifully preserved, but certain spaces were in need of a refresh. The bathrooms were cramped and outdated, and there were crumbling acoustic tile ceilings and stained carpeting in much of the space. Through targeted changes to the layout, new finishes in several rooms, and added and replaced millwork in the spirit of the existing built-ins, the home was brought back to its glory. By focusing on materials that would be consistent with the era of the building the final result is seamless integration and a blurring of old versus new.
